PERSONAL NOTES
Mr. H. P. Lawry, solicitor of Reefton, left for Christchurch this morning. Dr. E. H. Luke has been appointed surgeon on the resident medical staff of "Wellington Public Hospital. Mr.' A. S. Patterson left by the Otira express en route to Christchurch this morning. Mr. J. G. Herdnjan, General Manager of Dalgety and Coy. Limited, Christchurch, was an outward passenger by the express this morning. Mrs. M. and Miss Thornton, of Kevington’s Hotel, loft for Dunedin via Christchurch this morning on a short holiday. Messrs D. McCormack and Smyth, the two members of the Marist Bros.’ team who were left behind owing to ill-health and injury respectively, arrived in Greymouth last evening 10 join their team. The,- remains of the late Mrs. H. Hendon will be interred in Christchurch to-day the funeral being a privatb one. Mr. Hendon an * daughter are expected to return to Greymouth on Saturday evening. The funeral of the late Richard Galway took place this afternoon at Nelson Creek cemetery. A number of the '-old residents of that district attended to pay their last respects to the deceased. Rev. Father Hanruvaii conducted the burial service at the graveside. We regret to announce the death of Mr 11. Munro which occurred at the Grey River Hosnitalmast night. The deceased, who was an exceedingly popular figure in the town had readied his forty-eighth year before he succumbed a victim to . asthma, a complaint which had harassed him for many years. Hie* funeral takes place to morrow. A very pretty wedding* was celebrated at the Boulcott Street Church, Wellington, recently, when Miss Patricia Harris, of that city, was married to Captain 11. A. Lockingtou, formerly of Reefton. Miss lx. Mouat and Lieutenant Copp were bridesmaid and best man respectively. Ihe Rev. Father Mabony officiated. the happy couple left for Napier on their honeymoon. At the smoke-concert tendered to the visiting Christchurch Marist footballers in the St. Columba Hall last evening, opportunity was taken to present Mr. W. J. J oyce with a travelling rug on behalf of a large number of his admirers, and as a small mark of appreciation of valuable services rendered by Mr. Joyce m the past. The presentation was mane by Mr. T. Bayley (Secretary, of the si Columba Club), and Mr. Joyce suitably replied.
