correspondence: From Wairau Hospital and Charitable Aid Board asking information re a patient. —Received. From T. H. A. Valentine, forwarding pc mission of the Minister to purchase a section for the new hospital on Builer Road at a cost of £S6J; also from the Munster of Health, lion. Mr Parr, on the subject.—Receiv ed. ’.telegram from Health Department, stating that the question of, subsidy n Vvuiuta contrioutions was being dealt with. From E, Killick on the same matter. The Sccietary said that he had replied to the Secretary to the Department on the matter, and read the letter sent. —Received. From T. 11. A. Valentine, InspectorGeneral of Hospitals, re nurses’ salaries, and forwarding scale agreed upon. —Received. From same, stating that the Defence Department has agreed to pay charges for all sHdiers treated at the hospitals at the same rate as other patients, but not for

i perations.—Received. From the Waitaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, forwarding resolutions passed on health matters and asking the Beard’s endorsement of same.—Mr Dunn neved that the suggestions of the Waitaki Board be adopted. Seconded by Mr Buchan and carried.

From the Medical Superintendent forwarding list of suggested charges for soldier patients for operations, etc. —Proposed by Mr Buchan, seconded by Mr Dunn and carried, that the suggested charges be adopted.

From H. E. Holland, M.P. for Bnl'er, acknowledging receipt of letter re ■•’ale of subsidies adopted at conference of II spital Boards and asking for a copy ot tie scale of charges.—Received. From R. P. Hudson, M.P. for Motucku, on the same matter.—Received. From T. E. Y. Seddon, M.P., on tJie same matter. — Received, From the Secretary of Hospital Officers’ Association, Wellington, asking for cooperation of ail secretaries and officers of the Association. —Received. From the Commonwealth Laboratories, bringing under the notice of the Btaid iis manufactures. —Received. From J. Gardner, wardsmaa, po.nimg Oi t that the advance in salary granted hnn was not in proportion to that given to other members of the staff. —Allowed 1 , stand over. From James Collins, Board of Trade, re Hospital sugar supplies.—Received.

From T. Phillips, solicitor, reporting on Hospital accounts referred to him for collection. —Mr Buchan moved that those from whom no response had been received he sued. Seconded by Air Auld and carried.

From the Secretary of the Waiuta Medical Association forwarding £25 monthly contributions. —Received.

REPORTS. From the Medical" Superintendent for the month. —Received. .From the Matron of Reefton Hospital, stating Miss Ryan had resigned her position as nurse and accepted that of cook; a.so applying for a probationer nurse and a staff nurse, as well as other requirements. —Resolved that nurses be advertised for. From Matron of Waiuta Nurses’ Home forwarding monthly report and asking for necessities.—Resolved that same bo supplied GENERAL BUSINESS. r ine Secretary reported that he had written to the Grey Board re amalgamation of the whole of the Coast Boards into one district, and that the Board had communicated with the Minister of Health, v\ ho had suggested that a conference on the matter be held by the Coast Boards. Aid was granted to two cases of need, each in the sum of 7s 6d per week. Mr O’Regan moved that a letter of condolence be, sent to Mr and Mrs James Stevenson in their bereavement.— Seconded bv Mr Buchan and carried.
