The Grey mouth Orchestral Society will meet for practice this evening at 7.30. Advfc. An Order-in-Council has been issued authorising the Cambridge Electric Power t ßoard to construct electric works. There were two applicants for employment last week at the local Labour Bureau, both of whom were placed in positions. Authority has been given the Wanganui Borough Council to raise loans amounting to £37,100 for borough improvement works; During the last four years the financial position of the- Woodville Jockey Club has been improved to the extent of £6OOO.

The Keeffcon and Waihi Gold Miners' Unions have jointly arranged a deputation 10 wait upon the Government for the purpose, of urging an increase in the pension at present paid under the Miners Phthisis Act. Mr. M. Fagan who has been appointed to represent the Inangahua miners upon the deputation left this morning for Wellington.
Acording to the latest London files to hand, Messrs Handiey Page announce new and reduced passenger and freight rates on their air services between London, Paris, and Brussels. The single fare for passengers is now fixed at; ten guineas, and the return fare at 18 guineas. The new freight rates are as follow:—Up to 101 b, 2s pet lb; over lQlb and up to 301 b, Is 9d per lb; over 30ib and up to IWJIb, Is 6d per lb; over 1001 b, Is 3d, per lb.
