i. MINE OFFICIALS HELP. Owing to the stoppage of coal supplies xrom the State Mine the Borough Gas Works would have been in. a serious position had it not been for the consideration shown by the Union officials of the mine. ,'l'he Gas Works manager got in touch with the officials this morning and pointed but that in the event of the works being stopped the town would be without water as the supply pumping plant is dependent upon gas for power. Xf the water supply were cut off the health of the people would be in grave danger owing to the sanitary service being affected. In addition to the menace to public health, the clay retorts at the gas works would be destroyed through being thrown out of _ use. When the seriousness of the position was placed before the Union officials, they at once decided to supply sufficient coal to keep the works going- . , The action of the Union officials in showing such consideration for the welfare ,of the townspeople is much appreciated by the Borough authorities., '
