ENGLAND WINS SECOND TEST.
VISITORS PLAY WELL. (Per Press Associatiou.) CHRISTCHURCH, August 7. The second League test match, Eng land v. New Zealand, was played at Lancaster Park to-day. Rain fell all the previous night and during the greater part of the game, and had a bad effect on the attendance, which was in the vicinity of 6000. The New Zealanders were outclassed in all departments of the "game. The greasy, heavy ball and ground did not seem to inconvenience the Englishmen, who handled, tackled and passed well, while the New Zealanders were all at sea, their tackling being decidedly weak. WagstaL'e and Stone were th/ outstanding English backs, and Guiney was always prominent for New Zealand. The forwards were fairly well matched, but the visitors showed more cohesion. England won by 19 points to 3. Stone (2), Hilton, Parkin and Bacon scored for England, Gronow converting one and kicking a goal from a mark. Guiney scored for New Zealand. REEFTON GAME. During the week end League entered fresh fields. For the purpose of introducing the game to the Reefton football public the Cjast team chosen to meet the Englishmen, met the "B" thirteen in an interesting game. There was a large attendance of spectators who followed the game carefully, the A team winning by 13 points to 8. The consideration received from the Reefton Centre was greatly appreciated by the visitors, who anticipate some solid in ter-district games in the near future. The referee for the game was Mr. Nel son, Runanga. Two recruits to the League game were Messrs A.' and C McElwee, who opposed each other as
three-quarters. During the game, a Greymouth play ers, S. Smith, had the misfortune to break his collar' bone., In this condition he continued to play for some time. After being attended to by Dr. Scott, Smith was able to return to Greymouth.
