On Wednesday, and Thursday, evenings the . thrilling and sensational drama "ihe Road ijir'ough the Dark," will feature Clara Kimball- .Young in one of her finest emotional par!.-, as may bo judged from the story. Gabrille Jardee, daughter of a conservative Parisian family, is in love with an American, John Morgan, who her parents disapprove of. She is sent away from J aris to a, small village, where her aunt lives with her sister and brollur. The war comes and the Germans enter the town. She becomes the mistress of a German Konmiandant. By means of a code which John under? stands she supplies the Trench Government with valuable information. Tn Berlin she kills Karl and makes her escape to Paris where she meets John, who offers her the love she thought she had lost. To-morrow (Tuesday) evening in the Miners' Hall, Runauga, Pollard's will screen the Select picture feature "'J he Road through the Dark," starring the great emotional actress, Clara Kimball Young, in the leading role. The last but one episode of 'The Man of Might" is a supporting picture. > TOWN HALL. Maurice Tourne-ur, the master producer, has exceeded himself in the filming e>f Maeterlinck's immortal story, "The Blue Bird," which, as a Paramount-Artcraft Masterpiece is t) ■be screened at •the Peerless in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening. .As a collection of gorgeous spectacles it w r oulel be impossible to cenceive anything more varied .than the many wonderful and vivid scnes that Mr. Tourneur has obtained in depicting the search after happiness, as told in Maeterlinck's story. There, is a scene of impressive grandeur that needs special mention. A myriad of mothers can be seen on a mountain outlined against the risin™ sun, with arms outstretched . awating a great snip that sails out e>f the Heavens. This ship contains the babes whom the great Creator has sent to gladden the earth. '"The Blue Birel" is a veritable triumph of artistry. The supports include a 2-reel Sunshine comedy "Wild Waves and "Women," anil'"The Grey Seal." FIGHT PICTURE TO-NIGHT. To-night at the Town Hall the Peerless Pictures will display the much-talked-of boxing contest between ''Digger" Evans and Jamito. This fine film will be screened tomorrow at Hokitika, at Pit nanga Wednesday. Reefton Friday. On February 28th last a tremendous crowd at the Sydney Stadium, was carried away with excitemient throughout the twenty strenuous rounds, at the conclusion of which Evans was declared the winner. So, clear is the' photography of the picture that the boxers' every move and blow can be easily followed, and the same, excitement that swayed the stadium "fans" is transmitted to the audience by the -film reproduction. The first reel shows the training operations of the contestants, together .with pictures of. prominent men. "The 'Digger' Evans-Silvino Jamito fight picture is the finest I have ever seen." This is what Mr. 'Will Lawless, the eminent boxing scribe, "Solar Plexus," of "Fairphy," said after viewing this film of the wonderful fistic battle;
