CROQUET

MAKURA CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP HATCHES. The championship matches were played this week, and were keenly contested, three games having' to be played in both singles and doubles. The results are : Championship Singles. Mrs Siiallcrass; runner-up, Mrs Tennent. Championship Doubles.— Mesdames Tenneut and McKay; run-ner-up, Mesdani.es Thomas and Allan Smith. The competition for the rose bowl is responsible for some very iwteresing games. Mesdames Tennent, Thomas and Siiallcrass have all won the same number of games, so have all to play again for- the honour of winning and holding the rose bowl for the season.

On Saturday a tournament will be held, nommeucint)' at 2 o'clock, and during the afternoon the annual meeting' will be held. The Committee hope to see a large number of members and their friends. There will he no charge for admission, and members are reminded that it is a general tea day. The order of play for the tournament is as follows :
