FIRE BRIGADES
The Fire Brigades' demonstration, which will take place on the Boundary Street reserve on Saturday, is likely to attract quite a large crowd. Seven Coast brigades will take part in the various competitions, (jreymouth, lunnara, Colxlen, Beef ton, Westport, Denniston, and Hokitika. The proceedings will start with an address of welcome by the Mayor, at 1 o'clock, and for the various competitions the prize money,., in addition to three gold medals, will amount to £3O. Any funds over after expenses have been met will be devoted to the Old People's Home Fund. The principal event is the hose, reel and ladder competition for five men. The baby rescue for two men and the ladder race for one man should also prove most interesting events. The Borough Engineer has gone to considerable trouble to secure
a water supply for the purpose of demonstration. The brigades will be entertained by the local brigade later in the evening. The Westport and Denniston teams will arrive on Friday. mummmmmmKmtmmmmßammm
