AMUSEMENTS.

OPERA HOUSE. To-night in the Opera .House Pollard's will present the charming artist Anita Stewart in the special First National for this artist "A Midnight Romance." The play is delightful. The extremes of entertainment are accomplished in the opening scenes of ji boat of refugees from a foundered liner being landed on the American shore, and in the closing scenes of a grand ball and reception in honour of one of the refugees, who, throughout Ihe production, is known as Marie, a hotel maid. The story concerns her experience as a servant employed by the Sea View Hotel. A peculiar phase of the production in that the audience has no more idea of her beyond that than the members of the cast who succeed in involving her in a series of thrilling and mysterious experience's.

■TOWIN HALL. To-night will see a big Town Hall programme of three stars. The first is a live-reel Artcraft "The Goat" featuring the world's greatest acrobatic comedian, Fred Stone. Come and see the motion picture studio from "morning to night." The lid is removed, so that you can see the scenes behind the scenes. Chuck McCarthy, structural steel worker wants to become a movie actor after working on a steel job at a motion picture studio. The pet monkey of Bijou Lamar, movie queen, escapes and climbs-to the top of the steel work, and is rescued by Chuck. Molly O'Connors returns his ring, Chuck gets a job as extra, does hazardous stunts, takes the leading man s place, and is injured. The leading man is taken to a hospital to continue the deception, while Chuck goes home. The leading man is lionised and Chucic is forgotten. His illusions vanish, lie and Molly are reconciled, and Chuck is compensated for his injuries. Then a happy eliding follows. The Paramount Mack Sennett two-reel scream "The Village Smith" and "The Further Adventures of Stirigafee," and an Australian gazette showing New Zealand versus New South Wales on the football field, some of Australia's best boxers in their work, Lew Edwards, .Tack Finnev and Jimmy James also New South'Wales Bowling championship will also be shown. Thursday s big feature is a six-act Paramount* "My Cousin" featuring the worlds greatest tenor Enrico Caruso.

MINERS' HALL, RUNANGA. To-night in the Miners" HaU, Kuriahga the much debated play "Damaged Goods" a .sensational drama and cvtistic treatment of a serious subject venereal disease, will be screened lii picture' form and in conformity with the instructions of the censor seperate sessions will be held for men and women. The first session will be at 7 p.m. for women only and again at 9 p.m. for men only.

GREYMOUTH UP-TO-DATE. K complimentary entertainment tendered by Mr. Tom Pollard and music lovers of Greymouth to Mr. Fred Restieaux who is shortly leaving for Queensland will take place on Thursday evening. The entertainment takes the form of a revue entitled "Greymouth Up-to-Date" in which will be an ensemble of 50. local performers all fully rehearsed under the skilled hand of Mr. Tom Pollard. Through the revue willbe sprinkled a choice selection of the latest and brightest songs with full orchestral and limelight effects. The songs will include '-Some Sunday Morning,"' Mr. A. Giffney ; ''fy.Tennesse" Miss M. Bush ;, "Night of,- Romance, " Miss N. Chunn; "Widows, Mr. L. MtGlashan; ," lis the End, Farewell" Miss M. Steer and Mr T. A feature of the performance will be the love of "Percy .for "cm-Is in general, and the "Merry Widow" in particular, affording,, many humorous- incidents. The scenes in acts 1 and 2 are excellently painted by Mr. J.
