PAISLEY BY-ELECTION.
OPINION OF ENGLISH M.P. ‘ ASQUITH A GOOD SPEAKER., Mr E. Horne, a member of tbe British House of Commons, who arrived at Wellington on Suudav by the Moana, was asked by a “New Zealand Times” reporter as to which •candidate would be successful in the Paisley b3*-eiectiou, v\ Inch Air Asquith is contesting. , “Well, I know very little, ”°he replied. “You see I have been on tbe water this last few weeks, consequently I v was not in a position to watch the progress of the tight. I have a great admiration for Air Asquith, both as a barrister and a speaker, but I don’t think be is a very brilliant politician. He has not got the constructive ability of Air Lloyd George, but all the same I think he will succeed in capturing the seat, though the Labour candidate may make a good fight. Of course a surprise may be effected. In politics you never know—until the numbers go tipl” (A cable ou Saturday stated that tbe result "of tbe polling, which took place on Thursdav Vveek last, will not be announced until the 25th inst.)
