A War Office communique states that the Bolsheviks delivered a general attack on Lake Manitich-Sea of Azov front. Repeated vigorous attacks between Lake Manitich and the TsaritsinEkaterinodor railways have not resulted in any appreciable progress, but westward of the railway they have forced their, way across Lake Manitich, occupying some miles of the line southward of the river. The Reds are attempting to force Lake Manitich against the Don Army, between Lake Mechetnoi and the confluence of the Don. The Lake Manitich attack failed with heavy losses. Here the ice broke and the retreating column was engulfed. The Cossacks at some points crossed on the heels of the Bolsheviks and pursued them for some miles, inflicting heavy losses. A particularly violent Red attack was made against the Don Army south-east of Rostoff. Aftev heavy all-day-long fighting the volunteers cleared the entire south bank, except at one point. Thev took a thousand prisoners. LONDON, Feb. 20. A Bolshevik wireless message states: "Since we commenced the offensive on the Archangel front we have taken 2570 prisoners and a vast amount of booty, including three armoured trains. PARIS,• Fob; 20. Le Matin's Warsaw correspondent states that General Pilsudski oontenos that the time has arrived when all t)\e Entente Countries should' make peace with Russia and adds that Poland will shortly submit a peace scheme for the Allies approval.
