CffiUSTCHUKCH, This Day. —Air Justice Herdman has allowed the" appeal by the llabbit Inspector against the Magistrate's decision, dismissing' a case for the failure of a fanner to take reasonable steps to destroy rabbits on his land. His Honor held that the Inspector's opinion was decisive when the question for determination was whether the acts done by an owner were such as were necessary for the destruction of rabbits. UOTEDIN, This Day.—The Chief Justice gave his reserved judgment in the Howat Tuapeka County Council case, granting an injunction against the Council on the ground that it bad made :\ rate that was not authorised by law. P'IONEEK KILLED. TAIIIAPE, This Day.—On Saturday afternoon Patrick Leahy (a retired pioneer citizen of TaiJmpe) was killed on the railway. He missed the train at Mataroa and decided to walk along the railway line. He was-overtaken by a special goods train and killed. He Was aged 55 and leaves a wife, eight sons and three daughters.
