GREY PATRIOTIC ASSOCIATION.
WEEKLY MEETING
The weekly meeting of the Grey Patriotic Association was held yesterday afternoon. The DeputyMayor (Mr. W. H. Parfitt) occupied the chair. Messrs E. J. Wickes, J. McLean, D. McKay, P. N. Jeffreys, and D. Tennent were alsio present. From the Prime Minister, re. 0.8. E., stating that terms of resolution would be given careful consideration.
It was moved by "Mr. Wickes that a the resolution be forwarded to each member of Parliament.
From Wellington War Relief'Association, re unsatisfactory, case, stating the responsible ■'■ body was New Plymouth Patriotic Society.— Received.
From Auckland -Wo.r Relief Association, re unsatisfactory case. —Received. , y -■ From Canterbury Patriotic Asso.t ciation, asking permission to give assistance to a Grey District man. The Secretary reported that . he bad wired assistance.
It was moved by Mr. Tennent, seconded hy Mr. McKay, that the Secretary's! action be endorsed. From Canterbury Patriotic Fund, making application for reimbursement of £5 expended on West Coust men.
The money having been paid, it was moved by Mr. McKay and " seconded by Mr. McLean that the . 'Secretary's action be endorsed. From same, re. assistance for., helping a soldier's parents to establish a home in Christchurch, having recently removed from Greymouth. It was moved by Mr. Wickes and carried, that the matter be left in the hands of the Deputy-Mayor an 1 Secretary to be arranged for up to £5. It was moved by Mr. Tennent and seconded by Mr. McLean that in view of a, Greymouth distress case the Secretary be empowered to act, and grant the assistance needed. The prospects of peace were considered, and it wajs thought necessarv to make arrangements to fittingly celebrate the occasion. Mr. Tennent moved that in the event of the Mayor being absent from town when news comes through that Messrs Wickes and McKay confer with the Acting-Mayor as to the arrangement of celebrations. This was seconded by Mr. McLean and carried.
