ROLL OF HONOUR.
GUNNER W. F. DUFFY. Gunner William P. Duffy, who was killed in action on September 2nd_ was the eldest son of Mr Robert Duffy, of the West Coast, and was 31 years of age. He enlisted with the 20th Reinforcements and saw much service, and was recommended for the Milita.ry Medal for rescuing an officer under fire. He was? for a time farming at Spreydon, and at the time of his enlistment he was m the employ of Messrs Pyne and Co. He was very popular among those who knew him. and had many friends at the Addmgton'saleyards. PRIVATE 7. F. PAYN. Advice has been received to the effect that Private J. F. Payn was killed in action on October Sr'd. Private Payn, who left with the 27th Reinforcements, was the second eldest son of Mr and Mrs F. Payn, of Kumara, and was educated at the Kumara State School. This younp man was bright, intelligent, and genia.l, and at the time of his demise was in hit 23rd vear. Prior to his soldiering life h< had, at Arthur's Pass, served his time ai a general blacksmith and also been en gaged at the Ashburton Foundry. H< leaves a sorrowing mother and father, si: sisters and three brothers to mourn hi 1 loss.
