GREY PATRIOTIC ASSOCIATION.

OK BINARY MEETING. The ordinary meeting 1 of the above was held yesterday afternoon. Present: His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. D. Lynch), in the chair, Messrs D. Tennent, W. RKettle, and J- McLean. The Secretary stated that re a returned soldier he had received advice from Dunedin, thanking the Association for the work done in the case. CORRESPONDENCE. From Mrs Seddon conveying her heartfelt thanks to the members of the Grey Patriotic Association for their expression of sympathy on the death of her son. Captain Seddon. —Received. From the Waikato Sanatorium Cambridge, stating that a general meeting of the soldiers receiving treatment at the institution had been held, and it had been decided to form a committee for the purpose of commencing competitions in order to make their isolated life more cheerful. The Sanatorium is far removed from a township, and during wet weather concert parties cannot get to it, with the result that their visits are few and far between. The committee makes an appeal to the Grey Patriotic Association to provide a prize for one of the competitions arranged, and trusts that the appeal will be given early and favorable consideration,—Received. As it was thought a very deserving cause it was decided that a grant of £5 be made to the Sanatorium.-—Moved by Mr McLean, seconded by Mr Tennent, and carried.

From the Canterbury Patriotic Association re an application for clothing, which this Association thought unsatisfactory, and stating- that, as they had advanced the applicant 10s just prior to sending- word to this Association, it was hoped that this small amount would be refunded.

Moved by Mr Tennent and seconded by Mr Fettle that the amount be refunded.—Carried.

From the Auckland Patriotic Association declining- further assistance with regard to an unsatisfactory caseMoved by Mr Kettle, seconded by Mr Tennent, that the action of the Secretary in purchasing the applicant a pair of rugs be approved . —Carried. From the wife of a returned soldier, asking for a litfle help, since she had four children and her husband was handicapped by a bad leg and affected eye.—Received.

Moved by Mr McLean and seconded by Mr Kettle that the application be received and referred to .Blackball for report. — Carried,

Accounts were passed for payment.

Moved by Mr Kettle, seconded by Mr Tennent, that the Copper Trail Committee be asked to advance the Association £l5O. Carried.

A vote of thanks to the chair closed the meeting.
