I CHILDREN'S BAZAAR. * The sum of £32, which represents the gross takings was the amount handed in towards the Red Cross funds by the six girls who organised a bazaar to aid the funds. The children (Mary and Netta Coulson, Muriel Naylor, Coral Fox, Winnie Thompson, and Kathleen Woods) are to be complimented upon the success of their endeavours to help a worthy cause. BANK OFFICIAL PROMOTED. Mr Charles Fair, formerly teller at the Bank of New Zealand here, has been appointed to a position in the Bank of New Zealand at Westport, and starts next week. It will be remembered Mr Fair was invalided home from the front some time ago, and lie has not quite recovered from his illness yet. TOWN PLANNING COMPETITION. The judges of the town planning competition in conned ion with Gordon Park Estate, Queensland, have given both first and second prizes to Mr D. A. Crawford, who is an old Hokitika boybeing a son of Mr and Mrs R. M. Crawford, formerly of Hampden Street, and nephew to Mrs J. McMillan, of Sale Street. Mr Crawford is an authorised surveyor, and was educated at the Hokitika District Higli School. He has been appointed to give a series of lectures to the K mathematical students of the Queensland University. His brother Robert is a prominent engineer at the front and is engaged in some important engineering work.
