AUSTRALIAN RACING. DERBY WON BY BIPLANE. SYDNEY, September 29. The weather was line and ilie going good for the first day's racing. The attendance was large, and the totalisator was used for the first time. .Results:—

HURDLES.— Dunacles 1, Mulgawilhih 2, Bundong 3. Sixteen starters. Won bv li v e lengths. Time 3.44 3-4. TRIAL STAKES, Ij, miles—Percolater 1, True Blue 2, Girilah 3. Ten starters. Won by three lengths. Time 2.9'. DERBY. V z miles.—Biplane (Deeley) 1, Bronzetti 2, Thrice 3. Nine started. Biplane early took command and was never afterwards headed, winning easily by two lengths and a half, with a neck separating second and third. Time 2.34 3-4.

EPSOM HANDICAP, one mile— Satin Bird 1, Wedge 2, Mehi Kin 3. Nineteen others started. Won by hall a nock, with a length between second and third. Time 1.38 A.

The "performance is all the more remarkable owing t<v the fact that in the early stages Deeloy had the greatest difficulty in holding Biplane, who fou(ght for his head to such an extent that his supporters feared that be would beat himself, but from the moment be went to the front the issue was never in doubt.
