CHRISTCHURCH, September 27. —Messrs Bealli and Co., the wellknown Christchurch drapers, have-is-sued a. writ against the “John Bull’ Newspaper Proprietary, Ltd. (Frederick J. Dawson, printer, and Maurice Guldsborough, journalist), claiming' .£IOOO general damages lor alleged libel, KAIIvOURA ISOLATED. CHRISTCHURCH, September 27. —No steamers having called at Kaikultra for three weeks owing lo the, strike, and the roads being impassable on account of flood damage, the position in regard to foodstuff's is serious. At a reprcsouUtivc meeting this afternoon it was resolved to telegraph to Mr. Massey pointing out Hie gravity- of the situation and requesting Cabinet at once to appoint a. tribunal to deal with the strike or to pass: legislation concerning maritime matters.
