ELOCUTIONARY COMPETITIONS.
, The Cobden School Committee at its meeting Just night made final arrangements for.' the grand elocutionary competitions to be held on Friday evening l by the school children. In all there will be seven classes competing-, and a special prize has been donated for the highest, aggregate of points gained by a competitor in any individual section. In the matter of prizes the committeemen and teachers are helping, each member of committee having agreed to donate 5s each so that the financial result, of the competitions may be as satisfactory as possible. It is hoped to award first a t nd second prizes, so that fourteen will be required. In this connection ,an opportunity is now given to others so disposed to donate a prize or contribution and so further help along the success of the. competitions.. Any committeeman will be pleased to acknowledge same- As there "will be some forty competitors the competitions will start at halfpast seven- The public are reouested to note this fact, as the floor must be closed during each performance for the convenience of the judges, in which capacity Messrs J.
