A meeting of the District Committee to-night," to consider the reduction in the number of racing days in Otigo and Southland, decided on the following reductions:—Otago Hunt, one day ; Clyde Racing Club, one; Cromwell, one ; Dunedin, two ; Core, one; Lake County, two; Vincent, one; North Otagd, one ; Tapahui, two ; Waikouati, one ; Beaumont and Lawrence to amalgamate and race one day at Beaumont! The Lake County and Tapanui Clubs. went out voluntarily. WELLINGTON COMMITTEE'S DECISION. WELLINGTON, June 18. The District Committee of the Wellington ixueing Club met to deal with tiie question 0] tiie reduction of tiie' number of racing days in Wellington, province, 'The recommendations of the committee was. that tiie Wellington Club should lose three days, and v>taki, Horowiienua, Wairarapa, Ai aster ion, and Carterton one day each. Horowlienua and Carterton had.only one day each, so that for them the reduction means closing down until the end of the war. Nothing can be said yet about tile result ol the curtailment on the operations of the other clubs ; possibly some of tliem will not care to hold one day meetings. These questions will come before the conference when it approves tiie dates for the year. In accordance with n scheme adopted by the joint conference, those clubs wiiich continue to race will be asked to provide sufficient/ money from their profits to maintain the courses of those clubs which are closed down. The committee made this further recommendation, with the object of keeping alive the clubs compelled to suspend operations :—'"That the clubs which continue to hold meetings should grant the privileges of honorary members 16 all those members of clubs which are closed down, so long as those members continue to subscribe to their own clubs." The Wanganui District Committee has already got to work on the reduction question .(says the "Dominion"), At a meeting last week it was decided that the Wanganui Club should lose two days and the Manawatu, Feilding, Marten. Foxton, and both Hunt Clubs one day each. 'So far none of the clubs has decided which meetings shall be cut down. There is a difference of opinion about the claims of Fcftcton and . Tlangitikpi,..and.it is p.vobable Jhat the former club will appeal,.
