AN APPEAL REJECTED

CHRISTCHURCH, May 11

At the Military Service Board sitting- to-day, an application was made for the re-hearing of the- case of William Orr Campbell, secretary to the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, on the ground of new. material evidence. The chairman of the directors of the company pointed out that the industry was an essential one. The general manager was ill, the assistant to the manager in London had died, and the company was unable to ge.anyone with the necessary training and experience to take Campbell’splace.

The Board refused to grant a roheariiur, but gave Campbell an extension of time till the Second Division was called up. the company in the meantime to take such steps as it thinks,’tit to find a man as an understudy of Campbell.
