VIOLENT ARTILLERY DUEL.
ALLIES REPULSED

German Oflicial.—The artillery oil both sides reached its greatest violence on the whole of the Arras front. British advances at Fresnoy, lioeux, ana between Mommy and Uiorisy failed. We sanguinarily repulsed an attempt to storm Bulleeoui't by an encircling movement. There is an artillery battle on the Soisson-Laoii road and on both sides of Cradnne and along the AisnejMare Canal ,and in the Champagne; also at some points in Argonne. \\ e repulsed strong attacks between AV'interberg and Berry au Bac and on the Corleny road, also at i'rosnes. Ue brought down eighteen enemy aeroplanes.
ENEMY'S-TEMPORARY SUCCESS.
COUNTER ATTACKS SUCCESSFUL
LONDON, May 11. A British report from Salonika stales that the enemy attacked on Wednesday night south-westward of Doiran, and obtained a momentary footing at Goldi.es Hill. Our counterattack immediately drove him out. We repulsed a second attack on Thursday, inflicting losses. Our aeroplanes carried out four successful bombing raids, dropping quantities of explosives on dug-outs, dumps, and transport columns.
BRILLIANT FRENCH SUCCESSES. GERMANS LOSE HEAVILY. LONDON, May 12. A French Macedonian communique states: West of the Vardar, over difficult ground, we brilliantly captured Srkadilegen, south of Huma, repulsing vMihhh ° Bulgarian counterattacks. There is lively artillerying in the Cerna betKl and in the sector at Monastic In the lighting on lOfch-llth Mav the Allies captured 353 prisoners and tinee machine-guns. The enemy's losses were considerable.
