PAYMENT OF COSTS. (SrEorxx to "Stab.") WELLINGTON, This Day. The Royal Commission which investigated the cause of an explosion of sulphuric acid from a drum which was being unloaded" from the steamer Monowni in Auckland, when several men were severely injured, recommended that it possible a Melbourne firm which placed the acid in the drums with defective builds should he ordered to pay the costs of the inquiry. The Commission expressed a doubt as to whether this could be enforced, but added that if it was legally possible they were prepared to make such an order. The Hon- G- W- Russell, Minister of Marine, informs mo that the matter was referred to the Crown Law .Office, which reported that it is impossible to legally rerover such costs from the Australian firm, therefore the matter cannot be pursued-
