A transport was berthed at Port Chalmers this morning with 57 soldiers, nine of whom returned for duty- Trooper James Howard Mitchell, Palmerston North, who was suffering from gunshot wounds, died at sea- The only cot case is Frank Culverhouse, Canterbury Mounted Itifles. The rest of the men seem in better condition than the average of retimed soldiers-
Captain Simpson, of "Wellington, medical officer, says: The men have enormously improved on the trip- The officer in charge is Major Bennett, Bay of Plenty. The vessel experienced moderate weather, mostly fine. The men for north and south leave earlv to-morrow morning-
