PERSONAL NOTES.
Mrs P. Black, of Auckland, is visiting Greymouth, and is the guest of Mrs MacDonnell, Alexander Terrace. Mr James Burns,, accompanied by several gentlemen who are interested in the Rimu mining ventures, will arrive from Christchurch to-morrow evening.
At the close of the evening service in the Ikaniatua Presbyterian Church on Sunday last the opportunity was taken to present with wristlet watches three of our young men who are going into camp with the 29th Reinforcements, namely, Messrs Ashton and George Mirfin and William Lamberton. Our young men have not been behind other parts of the Dominion in their loyalty to King and country. During the lust twelve months we have sent at least six from the Ikamatua congregation alone, and the other districts in the parish have not lagged in their anxiety to serve the Empire at the moment of crisis. The Mirfin family ought to be commended for its patriotic spirit. Two of them are already at the front, two more are going into camp, ;vnd a fifth offering, out of a possible six in the First Division.
