RIFLE SHOOTING.
WEST COAST CHAMPIONSHIP. A meeting ot t.hose desirous of holding an animal Association rifle meeting on the Coast to entourage ride shooting was held at Greymouth on Saturday evening, repiesen'-atives from the National Resolve. Grey Defence Ride Club, and the Kanieii Club being present. -Mr J. Maitin, President, of the Grey Rifle Club, explained the object of tiie meeting, and suggested a two days' meeting, and stated he had been promised sufficient money to carry on the first days' shoot, winch would be under service conditions, and the second chiv would be under ordinary conditions. It would be ne eessary to form an Executive Committee, with representatives in liokiiika, Reeftou and Greymouth to work those towns for support If sufficient was offered, he had the assurance that some of the crack shots of the Dominion would make the trip. If the ina.iter was put plainly to the West Coast public, there was no reason why tho Association should not. be firmly established. A good programme would be made out, which would give a fair chance to all classes of shots and the prizes would be well distributed. it was proposed to hold a further meeting in a week's time and form an Executive Committee to go fully into the matter and Ascertain what support was likely to be forthcoming. It was also mentioned that a championship belt will be procured, to lie known as the West Coast Championship Belt. The meeting was very enthusiastic and those present gave orom.ise of active sunport.
