SUBSIDIARY HIGH COURT. ANNUAL CONFERENCE. iN-Z- PJiIOSS ASSOCIATION.I WELLINGTON, This Day. The second annual nieeting of delegates in connection with the Subsidiary High Court of the Ancient Order of Foresters Friendly Society was held on Thursday at Napier, Brother "Allen (Nelson) presiding, and all the districts throughout New Zealand being represented. The standing orders of the. Auckland, district were adopted. Tue meeting adopted the model rules prepare,] "by the Registrar of friendly Societies under the Finance Act, 1916. constituting the Society as an approved Friendly Society, an amendment that they be referred" back to the several districts for adoption with favorable consideration from this meeting, being lost.

A resolution was passed that the Government be asked to provide the.same maternity bonus to members of Friend' ly Societies as that granted to members of the National Provident Fund, at the present time the amount payable to members of Friendly Societies being £4, whereas members of the Provident Fund received £6. A circular was received from the Insurance Commisisoners in England with respect to members of Friendly Societies arriving in the Dominion being received at the same rate contributions as paid by them in Ergland, and enclosing a table of their transfer value. It was decided to-falUn with the proposal and to receive such members on the scale submitted, but the members to receive only the same bene.hi as Ihey did in England, which is materially less than'that paid by the Friendly Societies in New Zealand. . The Secretary brought before the Conference the necessity of some substantial recognition of the. services which have been and are being rendered by Foresters in the Expeditionary Force service abroad, either by making thorn life members of the Order on .their return, or by paying a portion Of- their contributions during their life time, raising the necessary funds to ; do'so. by making a levy of Id per member per' we'ek tor five years. The matter was. referred to the Executive to formulate a scheme which will be submitted to the various Courts throughout, the Dominion. The' election of officers resulted -in ' .the' : appointment* of Brother Allen (Nelson) as Subsidiary 1 High Court . Chief Hanger,' :and the following to subordinate positions :—Brothers Wilson (Otago); Marks (Canterbury), Bad- ' shaw'(lla v wkes Bay), Barnes Auckland). ' Sciintlebury (Nelson), Caldwell (Tara- (• naki), (Auckland).,.. •. Weliipfitoh was selected as the-next place of meeting, the : date being' left Vm'the hands of the x Executive Council.
