Dunlop and Harding beat Timrlegreen and Thomas 6—4, 6—o, 6—3. Brookes and Wilding defeated Ritchie and Prebble 6—l, —6, 6—o, 6—4. Mavrogordato and Doust defeated Crawley and Davson 3—6, 6—3, 5-7, 6—3, 9—7.

In the All England Plate Ingram defeated E. Yencken 2—6, 6—3, 6—l. A. Yencken defeated Hunter 6—4, 6—2. The games were' contested in a blazing sun. and there was an enormous attendance. Doust's splendid cross shots and placing won him the third set. Mavrogordato was in fine form and won the fifth set. Gore played splendid tennis. Gore lost some of his sparkle in the second set by Brooke's wizard volleys, which, not allowing Gore's use of forehand drives, allowed Brookes to reach the semi-final. Ritchie and Prebble lost the first set bv badly adopted aggressive tactics, but in the "second led by 4—l, Prebble being particularly brilliant. Wilding and Brookes I—4, went'down in the fourth set, but Wilding's _ mid-court smashes enabled them to win. Roust and Mavrogordato were mam festly tired against Crawley and Dav son." There was a fine aggressive contest. Dunlop throughout sought a volleying position. Germot frequently finished a rally with a deadly overhead smash. During the second set Germot frequently manoeuvred Dunlop out of the court. Wilding and Mademoiselle Broguedis defeated steward and Miss Douglas 6—l, 6—l, 6—3, 6-4, 5—7, 10-8. Ritchie and Prebble defeated Yencken and Brothers 6—3. 6—l, 6—B. Mavrogordato and Doust against Parke and Beamish won a set apiece 6_2, 3—6. The game will be finished to -morrow.
