OTAKI, June 26.—A disastrous' fire lestroyed the Town Hall, old newspaper >ffice, a garage, Bank of Australasia, St. George's chemist shop, and the district .•urse's quarters. The outbreak was first een at 1.30 a.m. by a Native. It then tad a good hold- " Nothing was' saved Lom the hall, but most of the things rom the other - places were saved. The wind was favorable, and ihe Central Hoel was saved with difficulty. The fire broke out in the Town Hall. The Horticultural Society lost all its belongings, while the Otaki Maori Brass Band lost several instruments and £3O worth of music. The bank safes were opened and the contents.found to be intact, but scor;hed. Mr Richard Bevan is a big loser, his moving picture plant being destroyed.
