The sun sets at 4.28 p.m. to-day, and rises at 7.37 a.m. to-morrow. THE MOON. ; The moon sets at 8.6 p.m. to-day, and : rises at 10.24 a.m. to-morrow. LOCAL REPORT. The maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 46 degrees, and the minimum for the night was 32 degrees. At 9 o'clock this morning the barometer registered 30.23 in., and the thermometer 40 degrees. The rainfall for May was 4.95, making a total of 25.10 in. for five months this year. During the present month rain has fallen, on eighteen days, the total being 6.55 in. WEATHER REPORTS. Westport. Wind, south-south-east, light; barometer, 30.15; thermometer, 37; tides, poor; bar, mocferate. Greymouth.—Wind, east, fresh breee; barometer, 30.23; thermometer, 40z; tides, moderate; bar, considerable sea. I WEATHER FORECAST. The Dominion Meteorologist last night issued the following weather, summary and forecast: —"The barometer has risen, except in the north, and southerly winds have prevailed and increased generally in force. The weather has been cold, squally and showery. The~present indications are for southerly and south-easterly winds, strong to gale, but with decreasing energy shortly. Cold and changeable weather probable with heavy . showers, especially on the east coast of the North Island. The barometer is rising everywhere." The Dominion Meteorologist wired at' noon to-da» as follows: — "The indications are for southerly winds moderate to strong prevailing. The weather will probable be cold and changeable. There will probably be a hard frost tonight. Barometer rising slowly; sea rough, and tides moderate."
