PHASES OF THE MOON.—JULY,

THE SUN. The sun sets to-day at 4.45 p.m., and rises at 7.27 a.m. to-morrow.

THE MOON. The moon rises at 5.31 p.m. to-day and sets at 8.39 a.m. to-morrow. LOCAL REPORT. The maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 59 degrees, and the minimum for the night was 51 degrees. At nine o’■dock to-day the thermometer registered 52 degrees and the barometer registered 30.22 degrees. For the six months ending June 30th, the rainfall in Greymouth totalled 50.12 in, rain having fallen on 95 days. During the 24 hours ending at 9 a.m. to-day the rainfall was o.7in, making a total of 5.43 in for fourteen days, this month.

WEATHER REPORTS

WESTPORT. —Wind, north east, light; barometer. 20.07; thermometer 53: tides poor, bar GREYMOUTH.—Wind, north, breeze; barometer 30.08: thermometer 50; tides, poor; bar, moderate sea. WEATHER FORECAST. Last evening the Dominion. Meteorologist telegraphed the following weather summary and forecast: —“Gloomy and foggy weather is reported everywhere, and rain'has fallen in parts. The barometric pressure has decreased, especially in the south, and northerly winds have increased generally. Present indications are for cloudy, misty, and unsettled weathrr, with rain in most parts of the country. Strong northerlics are probable generally, but likely to change to southerlies in the southern districts. The barometer will probably fall everywhere, but rise temporarily in the south after twenty-four hours.” •
