JOHANNESBURG, July 18,

The strikers demands from the present Government includes a tea days’ annual holiday apart from the three public holidays on the Factory and Workshops Bill. The demand will be referred to the Federated Trades before introduction to Parliament.

Various claims have been made for higher wages and overtime for night and Sunday work. The* immediate demands stipulate that underground work which can be done on the surface be made illegal ou the grounds that it is injurious to health. Railwaymans'’ demands include a consolidated system of wages throughout the Union. There are also specific claims regarding rates and a permanent inquiry board.

The strikers demand a conference with the authorities and insist ou a Government reply by the 23rd.
