The Prime Minister brought up in the House yesterday afternoon the remarks made by the member for Invercargill on Thursday respecting one of the Public Service Commissioners.
Mr Hanau, said the Premie] 1 , alleged that one of the Commissioners had thrown a lilt? ol papers in the face of one of the heads ol the departments, the Commissioner referred' to being Mr Triggs and the head of the department Mr Campbell, Secretary to th Treasury Ho had that day received a letter from Mr Campbell running as follows“I wish to take this opportunity to stale that the Assistant Commissioner did not at any time so act towards me. The relationship between myself and the Commissioner are of the most cordial nature.”
The Premier added the hope that this would lead members to be more careful about repeating hearsay until they had confirmed it.
.Mr Hanau declared that he had the previous day, upon the Prime Minister denying the accuracy of the report, expressed his pleasure at hearing it.
