BELLE CROME CO.
.West Coasters have a warm place in their hearts for Miss Belle Crome ami h i* company of artists. The company s claims to popular favor are many, versatility, brightness,, sterling in quality, and an all-round evenness of merit, it is not to be wondered that their popularity increases with every appearance. No better illustration of their attractive powers could be forthcoming than the generous patronage and long-continued applause extended 1 ist night by a really line audience. The b. Bringing was good with all its charm, the sweet dulcet notes of the hells giving exquisite pleasure to all present. Three numbers were given in all. “The Silver Bell” and “Don’t Sing this Chorus,” were rendered with gieat gusto, while that grand old hymn “Abide with Me” was played in a manner that overwhelmed the listcii- < i-; it was quite impressive and a pin c mid have been heard to drop so still were the audience. The entertainment put on nightly by the Cronies is bright and sparkling in the extreme, and people who miss it miss a musical treat. Mr. W. E. Crome, at the piano, aud Miss Belle Crome in her many successes, are still the life and soul of the company, and they know to a nicety (lie concert items that best appeal to present day audiences. Miss- Ethel Hibbards made a welcome reappearance and received a fine reception. Her vnging is better than ever, as was porved by her items, “The Promise of Life.” aiid “Poor Wandering One” from “The Pirates of Penzance.” Miss Richards sang the latter with great \ !m ami brilliance, and fairly brought down the house. She received encores in both parts, and was equally successful. Mr. Norman Churton is the new bass singer of the company, and sang acceptably. Bert Ralph is the new comedian, and libs a great budget of. comicalities which .he fires off with e nergetic enthusiasm. He is known to fame as “the man with the laughs,” and, while he is on the stage everybody within hearing seems to he similarly affected. Last, but by no means least are the Creighton brothers, a pair of comedy juggling and acrobatic performers, who are certainly marvels in thenown particular line. Mr. Crome has associated with him in the past some clever performers, but the Creightons easily heat them .all. The Company will appear for the last time to-night in an entirely new programme, so that local play-goers will liave another opportunity of wintessing Hftn entertainment brimful of merit.
