Die wonderful success of (he mission, a present taking place at St. Patrick's Church is evidenced by the extraordinary congregations attending day by day. Yes lerday morning there were three Masses 7.50, 9. and 10 a.m. At the first, ove) 500 people received Holy Communion, am over 100 at the second. At 10 o’clock a large congregation assembled. The Yen Rev. Father O'Connell. S.M., explained the ceremonies of the Mass and, also preached from the text, “Amen, amen 1 say to You if you ask the Father anything in my name He will give it yon." (John 16, 23. He urged his hearers to he faithful to daily prayer as a means of persevering in the friendship of Cod. Last evening at 7 o’clock, in spite of the very heavy rain, the church was packed and many were accommodated in the sanctuary and. sacristy. The sermon was preached by the Rev. Father .McCarthy, 5.. M.. who took for his text, “Without faith it is impossible to please God.’” It is safe to say that a more brilliant exposition of the Catholic doctrine of “I*aith ’ was never heard from any pulpit in Westland. The missionary Fathers have quite won the hearts of the people, who are responding in a marvellous m'anner’ to their instructions. The congregational singing, led by I Father O'Connell, is quite a feature of the I mission. This morning large congregations attended at 6. 7, and 9 o'clock. . An important sermon on the “Sanctity of Marriage wiil he delivered this evening. As an offertory last evening Mr j McCarthy played a violin solo, “The Lost Chord very effectively. He was accompanied by Miss Rita Hannan in her usual finished style. A mission will be held in Cobden tomorrow (Tuesday) evening, continuing till next Sunday, and will be conducted by Rev. Father Taylor, S.M.
