Prepared to Morganise a great, banking ivstem to be established in Latin America, as suggested in President Taft’s annual message to Congress. Sold his control of the Chicago Surface tractions for £10,800,000, and made the neat profit of £l, 400,000. Arranged for the amalgamation of the Bankers' Trust Company and tile Astor I’rust Company. Gave £20,000 to establish a professorship in Assyriology and Babylonian literature at Yale University. Everywhere Mr Morgan went he had a good time. Ho ate well, slept well, and vorked when he felt like it. How many millions he was worth nobody but himself knew. He is supposed to have made enough to take rank among the world’s richest men. Ho gave untold millions of it away in practical charities, and never made a fuss over it.
