W 1 ATttER FORECA ST The Government Meteorologist last evening issued the' following weather summary and forecast: —"1 lie barometer rose everywhere during the night, and west- to south-westerly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed. The weather was stormy,- especially rin the south, last night, but it improved to-day. Present indications are for moderate to strong southerly winds backing again to- westerly, and increasing Southward of Kawhia and Castlepoint. The barometer has a rising tendency in the north, but will probably fall in the south. Fair to cloudy weather generally, but Unsettled on the West - 'Coast and southern districts of the South Island, for another westerly storm area appears to be approaching on the Tasman Sea.”
