The maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 50 degrees, and the minimum for the night was 41 degrees. At nine o’clock this morning the temperature was 4.4 degrees, and the barometer registered 30.20, The rainfall for the 24 hours ending-nine, o’clock was 0.04 inches, WEATHER REPORTS, Westport.-—Wind, south, light; barometer, 30.’2; thermometer,. 43 degrees ; tides moderate ; bar considerable. W 1 ATttER FORECA ST The Government Meteorologist last evening issued the' following weather summary and forecast: —"1 lie barometer rose everywhere during the night, and west- to south-westerly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed. The weather was stormy,- especially rin the south, last night, but it improved to-day. Present indications are for moderate to strong southerly winds backing again to- westerly, and increasing Southward of Kawhia and Castlepoint. The barometer has a rising tendency in the north, but will probably fall in the south. Fair to cloudy weather generally, but Unsettled on the West - 'Coast and southern districts of the South Island, for another westerly storm area appears to be approaching on the Tasman Sea.”
