CHRISTCHURCH TRAMWAY TROUBLE

■■ BUTTER BIDE A WEE.”

[By TKI.HC.rUPH—SPECIAL TO THE STAR. ] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The tramway men- seem to be a little nervous regarding their proposal to stop the cars next Monday, while they discuss their grievances at a meeting. Many of the older hands are urging that the ultimatum presented to the Board was a rash one in view of the fact that the present Board is about to go out of existence and the campaign for the election of a new authority is in progress. It would have been better to have .waited the outcome of the elections. The meeting will be held, no doubt, but prob bly its proceedings will be brief. The decision of the men almost certainly will be to postpone further action pending the election of the new Board, which may contain Labour representatives.
