The action of Archbishop Clarke against John Norton, editor of the newspaper Truth, claiming £5,000 damages, was- commenced. The alleged libel was container! in an article‘dealing with the case of Canon Nash wherein the Archbishop was stigmatised as a night-man, a pestilent pari si to, an inquisitor and an Anglican .anarchist. He was challenged to meet tlie writer in a Court of Riw.
