ARRIVAL OF BADEN-POWELL.

WELLINGTON, This Day. Major-General Baden-Powell arrived yesterday morning. He was escorted from the wharf by boy scouts. The' Genera! will lecture hero. A large assemblage of Boy Scouts is being orgiyuped in his honour. Colonel Cosgrove also arrived in connection with the same movement.

Good progress is being made with the erection of the wireless Station on Tinakori hills. The building to house the instruments is specially strong and designed to avoid the sound of wind round the corners. The roof is almost flat, and the walls, consisting of rook quarried on the site, are about eighteen inches thick, and are cemented and plastered. The power is supplied by a two-kilowat motor, driven by power from the city mains. The. mast to carry the aerial wires will be 150 ft high, and will be erected when the weather conditions are suitable.

The Government are preparing for the erection of the new Parliamentary Buildings. The intention is to block Sydney Street and throw it into the present ground space and provide for the disposal of the large wooden Government Buildings opposite. This site will bo sold for business purposes. Building trade is improving as a consequence of the works soon to bo put in hand.
