WOODVILLE RACES. {BT XKUEQBAPH—PW PRKSS AIBOOIATIOS.] WOODVILLE, December 3. The Summer meeting of the Woodville Jockey Club was started to-day, under- very unfavourable weather conditions. Rain fell about 11 o'clock, and when' the first race started it was coming down in sheets. Rain continued to fall during the first three races, when the sky cleared the sun shone brightly, but the heavy wind blew for the remainder of the afternoon. The attendance was satisfactory, but was greatly affected by the rough weather. Since last meeting a lot of improvements have been made in conv;enie<ices and these were, much appreciated by the public. A silent totalisator was used for £Ue first time and the sum of £7,172 was pint through, which is over £IOOO more than the corresponding, day last year. Results !-
Maiden Handicap.—Royal Arms 1, Mira 2, Matlow 8. Kings favourite led the greater"*part of the journey and when well in the straight was challenged by Royal Arms and Mira, but the former went to the front and won easily by two lengths. Time lmin 18 4-ssees. » Hack Hurdles.—Strathmoira I,'-. All Trumps 2. Won by two lengths. Time 3min 34 3-ssecs.
Grandstand Hack.—Jargo 1, Meloiogua 2, Overheard 3. Meremhe led for most journey put in the straight, the placed horses fought the battle out leaving Jargon an easy winner by a couple of lengths. Time lmin 34 sees. /
Woodville Handicap.—British Maid 1, Voetgang 2, Coromandel 3. British Maid took possession at the start ar.d led the field right home, winning by two lengths. Time, 2min 14 3-5 sec*. Scratched—Equitas, Effort, Seapink, Royal Marine, and San Lass. Flying Hack.—Florence Nightingale 1, Taft 2, Turna 3. Taft and Crown Pearl led right into the straight. When Taft assumed command, but was challenged by Florence Nightingale, These two raced together to within a few,yards of the post when the little mare forged ahead and won by a good length. Time, lmin 20secs. Borough Handicap.—Splash 1, Midnight Sun 2, Cork 3. After the start Seaton Dale led for a couple of furlongs, and then went to the front and looked all over a winner. Splash came through and won by a good lenth. Time, lmin 30secs. Welter Hack.—Plantation 1, Sir Knox 2, Loch Maben 3. _The horses were well bunched some distance down the straight, when Plantation asserted himself and won by two lengths. Time lmin 50 2-ssecs. Electric Dash.--Gold Battery 1, Master Sylvia 2, Bowbells 3. Taft led the field for most of the distance, then Gold Battery and Mister Sylvia loft the field and raced home neck and l ock the former getting the verdict by half a head. Time, lmin 4 l-ssccs.
