There were five thousand people present. England opened disastrously, three wickets falling for no runs. Kinnear and Douglas offered fine defence and saved their side. Hearne's display vas sound but the scoring throughout was painfully slow.* The bowling was splendid but the fielding wretched and several chances were missed. Following are the scores:— ENGLAND.
