ANOTHER REFUTATION.

PROHIBITION ISTS CONFOU NDED. FURTHER FAKES EXPOSED. MESSRS TREWIN AND McINTYRE FLOUTED. The following letter which appeared in the “Wairarapa Age” of Friday’s date r eeds no words of introduction:— THE BOTTLE PHOTOGRAPH. ‘Sir.—l read in your issue of yesterday the report of the two gentlemen from Tedding who investigated the McAlana-way-Hammond No-License argument, in which they publish that they suspected that the photograph of my yard containing the empty bottles was taken beiore No-license. Now, sir, for a start, I depend for my living upon collecting and selling bottles, and I therefore can-, not afford to pile up bottles and keep them in my yard for nearly three years in order to make them look impressive; and, secondly, there are photographed in that photograph some of my children, one of whom was not even born at the time No-license came into force. I may say these two gentleman called at my little yard, and although I was there made no inquiries of me, simply had a look, and left. I make a good living out of the collection of bottles in Mastertori, and lam only one of a number who do S’, and it is immaterial to mo whether these gentlemen think one way or die other, but I do object to being made out dishonest and accused of misrepresentation in the matter. Now, in conclusion, if it is any information to your readers, I may say that not only were the number of bottles photographed in tht photo collected in Masterton, but many thousands of dozens besides.—l am, etc., . T. RIDGWAY. A. 19.
