MR MICHEL'S MOANA MEETING
[TO THE EDITOR.] Sir, —It is most amusing to read the account of Mr Michel’s meeting at Moana, published in the Grey Star of yesterday, 261 h instant, and later in Ihe Argus (By arrangement). The writer of that report must have been either an absentee from the meeting or imbibing too freely of Joe Mandl’s XXX, which must have given him double eyesight. Now, Sir, to be correct, the number of people at Mr Michel’s meeting in the Seddon Hall was 76, a number of them not having a vote and a number of Seddon supporters were also among tire number. Mr Michel’s following may have numbered (?) 40. Considering as published they came from Aratika, Kotuku and Te Kinga, that number is nothing extraordinary. (“By Arrangement”) states that Mr Michel addressed what was no doubt the largest political meeting ever held in Moana. Now, Sir, to rectify a small mistake, Mr Seddon spoke at Moana recently, and the audience numbered nothing less than 130, and a number of non-voters were there who were not counted, but maybe the correspondent for Mr Michel’s meeting did not consider that a political meeting. No doubt the meeting was a political record for Mr Michel. “By Arrangement” might have published the questions, especially in regard to wages paid at tire Ross Gvjdfields, viz., from 12s to 16s per day. Yours etc., no nom de plume, but T. URE. Moana, November 29th, 1911,
