THE PARLIAMENT BILL

ANOTHER AMENDMENT BY THE LORDS. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT. LONDON, June 30. The House of Lords discussed the question of “tacking” in connection with the Parliament Bill. Lord Haldane, in expounding the Government’s view, stated that though Mr Asquith defined “tacking” as including in a financial Bill strenuous provisions directed for social, <and political purposes, he never suggested that a money Bill must be devoid of such purposes. Lord Cromer’s clause was finally adopted by 192 votes to 48. _ The clause empowers a joint committee to sit and give judgment on Finance Bils, and set aside those bills whose governing purpose brings them within the category of general legislation. Lords Nelson, St. Aldwvn and Lytton voted with the Government.
