MELBOURNE, June, 6.-—There are one hundred and ninety six entries for duo Melbourne Cup. The Melbourne Cup entries include Broadsword, Martyre, Bridge, Formeden, Vice Admiral, Bancleira, Los Angelos. There are 170 entries for the Caulfield Cup, including Broadsword, Lady Medallist, Martyre, Formeden, Los Angelos, Vice Admiral, Bancleira, Lady Lucy, Chaste, and Bridge. Fifty-nine are .entered for the National Hurdles, including Pakartl; thirty-seven for the National Steeples ; sixty-six for the Australian Hurdles and sixty-five for the Australian Steeplechase. These totals' iriay yet undergo an alteration. DECREASED ENTRIES FOR SYDNEY EVENTS. SYDNEY, June, 6.—The entries for the Epsom Handicap number one hundred and twenty-five including the New Zealanders Lady Medallist, Chaste and Gold Thread. Last year’s .entries for tin’s event numbered one hundred and sixty-four, there being thus a decrease of 39 this year. For the Metropolitan there are one hundred and five entrants including Lady Medallist, Chaste, Chamade, and Bridge. Last year’s entries for this race totalled one hundred and fifty-seven. • Later. Additional entries for the Epsom bring the total up to 150, including Formedevan, Vice Admiral, Bandiera, Genius, Los Angelos, Culprit, Broadsword and Royal Soult. For the Metropolitan the entries now total 134, including Formedevan, Vice Admiral, Bandiera, Genius, Los Angelos, Lady Lucy, Royal Soult and Broadsword. THE AUSTRALIAN JOCKEY CLUB. SYDNEY, This Day. In the Assembly, a motion for the appointment of a Select Committee to inquire into the operations and powers of the Australian Jockey Club lapsed. The opponents of the motion claimed that it would be “an inquiry” a«nd they objected to annoying the club which had done so much to raise the standard of racing and now- spent £40,000 a year in prize money.
