MODEL OF A DREDGE.
WHAT TIME AND INGENUITY ACCOMPLISHED. Mr. Chas. Roberts, a mechanic employed on the Pactolus dredge, has made a complete model of the plant he is working on. It is on a half incli scale, .some seven feet iti length overall, minute in every detail and an exact replica of the “Midas.” It is a most creditable piece of work, which look two years of his leisure time in the making. It displays much skill and an unusual amount of patience. Mr. Roberts made every part himself, except the engine, boiler and dynamo, which he imported at considerable expense. It has an electric light installation, the lamps being chiefly of four candlepower. The model is beautifully finished and works perfectly and is most instructive and shows clearly the intricate working parts in a comprehensive manner. It is also very fascinating to see all the machinery working. Mr. Roberts deserves much credit for its production and the pleasure anti instruction it affords. The model has been christened ‘‘The Coronation Midas,” and is intended for exhibition. It will be shown at the coming exhibitions.
