ENGINE DRIVERS' ONION.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Westland Certificated Union of Engine Drivers was held on Saturday evening in the Lyceum Hall, Greymouth, nt which there was a fair attendance of members. Mr J. O'Brien, president, occupied the chair. Mr Crowley attended as the deegate from the Reefton branch of the Union. The ' principal business of the evening was the discussion on the new agreement between the Union and the State Mine management, which had been drafted and approved by the Union. The Secretary, Mr G .R. Wylde, reoorted on the recent ballot on the question as to whether the Union should withdraw from the Arbitration Court, but there had been such a lack of interest taken in the ballot that no vote was taken, there not being a majority of votes recorded either way. "Out of a roll of 160 members only 52 had voted in favour of the cancellation and 32 aaainst Ihe proposal. Therefore, the vote was invalid. This completed the business.
