Mr M. Phillips, Clerk of the • Grey Cpunty Council, will return from his holidays on Monday. ; It was stated at b.st ei..bt’s 'netting of the Fire Brigade, Hokitika, that, Mr A. A. Andrewes had resigned the secre-: taryship.
Among the passengers leaving for .Christchurch this morning were Mr and Mrs G. W. Moss, Messrs C. D. Morris, W. S. Percy and Jack Pollard (Lyttelton Times). The Right Rev. Dr. Tvevill (Primate) loaves the Dominion on Tuesday for London, and Bishop Julius, of Christchurch, will act as Primate during the nine months of his absence. It is understood that the Rev. Mr. Braddock, evangelist of Wellington, will temporarily fill the place of Mr. D. J. McFarlane who leaves Kumars, short ly for Takaka.
His many friends will be pleased to learn that Mr. A. Bennett, junr., tiroman on the Hokitika-Ross railway subsection, and son of Mr. A. Bennett, ol Hokitika, has passed his examination as an eingine-driver. Mr H. Moss, manager of the merchandise department at Johnston and Go’s, Limited; Wellington, writes, stating that iie is leaving by the Manuka from Auckland on April Bth, via’ the Cook Islands, for San Francisco, thence through Canada and New York to London, and will practically go round the world before returning to “God’s Own Country.”
